Messages from the Troops

Here are some letters and excerpts from recent 639th newsletter:

Platoon Leader Erik Oberg:

"I wanted to express how thankful we are as a company and how honored we feel from being supported from someone back home. It is extra special knowing that a Kalispell church is supporting Kalispell soldiers. We are grateful for the thought put into this project and relay the message from my soldiers how much they appreciate the packages.  Thank you again for your efforts in supporting the 639th CSSC (your local National Guard soldiers)!"

Class 1 Yard

Here we are again, 4th platoon of the 639th climbing all over a truck load of goodies...

It's a new day for the 639th fuel platoon as they peek their heads out the doors of their CHU's to see what kind of weather the country has brought them.  The days seem like many others, with a slight change in temperature each day.  Even though, the days seem to run into one another it gives the fueler's a feeling of normalcy."

SPC Parisian, Ashley

...Our night shift has been staying pretty busy with all the trucks of fuel we are receiving, but have no room for...We will all be howling for more fuel...The fuel platoon has adopted a new mascot, Montucky Toad.  Montucky has hopped his way into our hearts.  The night shift let him flee one night leaving the day shift with mysterious clues to his whereabouts.  We rescued him only to discover that he had found a new outfit consisting of a pink thong and a silver crown.  We have revealed the new XO for the B.O.D.!

The maintenance section has done an admiral job this week. They have repaired an outstanding number of vehicles. Of the twelve checked into their shop they were able to repair eight of them on the spot. The other four were diagnosed and are awaiting parts. They assist the transportation mission by maintaining the nine PLS trucks used for their mission and the class one yard by maintaining their forklifts.  Along with maintain all equipment they have a small number of soldiers that order all parts needed for repairs, maintain an up to date inventory of all parts in stock, dispatch vehicles and keeps a record of all drivers’ licenses for all soldiers in the 639th CSSC. As you can see the maintenance yard holds a very big part in the success of the 639th CSSC and their mission accomplishment.

Janury 4, 2009:

Thank you for the care packages you have sent us here at Camp Bucca ...Everything sent to us is immediately made available to service members here - either our sailors, or the soldiers, Marines, and airmen stationed here, too. It means a great deal to us to know that people back home think of and support us.

“Soldiers” Project

SOLDIERS PROJECT ENDING

MANY THANKS to all of you who have contributed your time and donations to the Soldiers Project.

Those Chaplains and Soldiers receiving our care packages have repeatedly expressed their gratitude in knowing people back home care.

Now that our troops are coming home from Iraq, and battalions are being relocated, we have no one to ship to at this time.  Therefore, our Soldiers Project is being discontinued.

Remaining funds are being transferred to the Military BibleStick Outreach program.  This program sends pocket-sized digital audio readings of the New Testament to soldiers who request them.  More information about this program can be viewed online at:  www.faithcomesbyhearing.com/

Those who wish to continue contributing recently published magazines may leave their donations at Rosauers in Kalispell.

Please continue to support our veterans and soldiers throughout the world, no matter where they may be stationed.
